Meet Our Team

The Reimagine Pearland Initiative started by high school students who want to make a change in the way Pearland residents move around their city.

I'm a senior at Pearland High School in Pearland, Texas, and one of the co-founders of the Reimagine Pearland Initiative. I helped create this project because I care deeply about how cities are designed and how that design impacts the way we live, move, and connect. Like many people in Pearland, I’ve noticed how difficult it can be to walk or bike safely in our city. I believe we can change that. By improving our streets with protected bike lanes, shaded sidewalks, and better access to public spaces, we can create a Pearland that works better for everyone especially those who don’t drive. This initiative is about building a healthier, more connected, and more livable city. I hope it sparks a conversation and inspires action.

Obada Achkar

Hi! My name is Obada Achkar, and I’m a junior at Pearland High School in Pearland, Texas. I helped create this website to raise awareness about the lack of walkability in certain areas of our city and to advocate for safer, more connected sidewalks. As someone who cares deeply about public health, I believe walkable communities are essential for promoting healthier lifestyles, reducing traffic risks, and improving overall quality of life.

Our Shared Vision for a Greener Pearland

We believe Pearland can be more than a place people drive through. It can be a place where people walk, bike, gather, and thrive. Our shared vision is a connected and people-first community where daily life does not depend on a car.

We imagine tree-lined streets with protected bike lanes. Small parks and shaded sidewalks that encourage movement and connection. Locally owned shops, homes, and cafés woven into walkable blocks that reflect the unique identity of Pearland.

This is not just a design change. It is a commitment to livability, sustainability, and equity. Together, we can create a Pearland where every resident, regardless of age or ability, can move safely, breathe cleaner air, and feel proud of the neighborhood they call home.
